HOW TO SET UP YOUR HOOKAH - HOW TO PREPARE THE HOOKAH

Join the main body of your hookah with the vase gasket into the water jar. They should fit snuggly and create an airtight join

Put the metal tray over the top of the main body of the hookah (the side left after joining th water jar). This may click into place or just hang loosely depending on your model, alternatively some hookahs have this plate permanently attached to the body.

Plug your hose and hose gasket into the hole provided on the body of the hookah pipe.

Opposite your hose port you may have a purge valve for getting rid of stale smoke. If your hookah has one, unscrew this valve and make sure there is a ball bearing inside, this is what created the vacuum while sucking and purges stale smoke while blowing, without it the hookah is not airtight.

Make sure your hookah is in fact airtight by closing the top of the hookah with your hand and sucking through the hose. When you do this there should be little or no air getting through, if there is check all your connections again and make sure they are air tight. If you have a hookah with a purge (or air release) valve then blowing with your hand still covering the top of the hookah should move the valve and expel the air in the main chamber.
